La bella Filli al caro Tirsi in seno
dicea, colma di gioia:
Ch’io teco viva e moia!
Et ei baciando il bel viso sereno
gli respondea: ò vaga Filli, anch’io
di viver teco e di morir desio.

German translation

Die schöne Filli sprach zum geliebten Tirsi
in ihrem Schoß, voller Freude:
Ach dass ich mit dir lebte und stürbe!
Und er, das hübsche heitere Gesicht küssend,
antwortete: O hübsche Filli, auch ich
begehre, mit dir zu leben und zu sterben

Beautiful Filli said to her beloved Tirsi
in her lap, full of joy:
Oh that I would live and die with you!
And he, kissing the pretty serene face,
answered: Oh pretty Filli, I also
desire to live and die with you.
