And light the skies above,
Ye are bright eyes of those who once
Did well and truly love;
Your mission is a constant watch,
O’er lovelorn ones to keep,
To guide their steps on darksome nights,
From pitfalls yawning deep.
On those whose hearts are rent and torn,
By love that loves in vain,
The silent stars smile sweetest dreams,
As solace for the pain.
