English text
Rocking with the passing tide,
Our boat with calm and silent pace,
Thro’ the waters soft doth glide,
As we our happy voices raise.
Sing, merry comrades, sing,
Let your voices ring;
Hearts are gay and faces bright,
And sparkling eyes are filled with light;
We all with merry heart
Bear our tuneful part.
See the cities gliding by,
The sun is slowly passing down;
Stars besprinkle now the sky,
And lights gleam out from every town.
While our journey lasts shall we,
While oars dip steadily and slow,
Keep from strife; and joy and glee
Shall ever make the moments go.
