1. Erschienen ist der herrlich' Tag,
d'ran sich niemand g'nug freuen mag:
Christ, unser Herr, heut triumphiert,
all' sein' Feind' er gefangen führt,
Halleluja!

2. Die alte Schlange, Sünd’ und Tod,
die Höll', all' Jammer, Angst und Not
hat überwunden Jesus Christ,
der heut vom Tod erstanden ist.
Halleluja!

3. Sein'n Raub der Tod mußt geben her,
das Leben siegt und ward ihm Herr,
zerstöret ist nun all' sein' Macht,
Christ hat das Leben wiederbracht.
Halleluja!

4. Die Sonn', die Erd', all' Kreatur,
all's, was betrübet war zuvor,
das freut sich heut an diesem Tag,
da der Welt Fürst danieder lag.
Halleluja!

5. Drum wir auch billig frölich sein,
singen das Halleluja fein
und loben dich, Herr Jesu Christ,
zu Trost du uns erstanden bist.
Halleluja!}}

1. The glorious day has now come 'round
for which rejoicing knows no bound:
Christ, our own Lord, in triumph reigns,
all of His enemies in chains.
Alleluia!

2. The ancient dragons, sin and death and hell,
all mis'ry, fear and need He has defeated;
Jesus Christ today from death has now returned.
Alleluia!

3. He handed death his great defeat,
and life, victorious, owns Him Lord,
destroyed is death and all his pow'r;
Christ now has life returned to flow'r.
Alleluia!

4. The sun, the earth, its creatures all,
all things that troubled us before
rejoice today and sing aloud:
the prince of earth has been cut down.
Alleluia!

5. And now our joy is justified,
and our own alleluias
ring in praise to Thee, Lord Jesus Christ,
that Thou arose to comfort us.
Alleluia!
